Experienced?

I watch a lot of reality tv... a lot. There really is not much else on these days with of course the exception of the two hours of LOST tonight!!! So I stumbled upon Kimora Lee Simmons show that details her life as a mother and style maven. She is pretty stuck on herself but to her credit, she is a beautiful woman and she's "made it" in this life. That took me to her clothing line website. I saw the cutest shirt on there for girls and thought I'd grab it for Madigan. I really can't go wrong seeing is as it is pink and green. Has anyone ever bought anything by Baby Phat? Wondering about the quality, sizing, etc. It's not that expensive if you peruse the sale sections. Here is the shirt:

Now tell me what you all think!

Poor Me!

The Results are in: I have "moderate growth of Group A Streptococcus plus normal Oropharyngeal Flora" I don't think I am dying, but I probably should play this off for all I can. I have always been a healthy person with the exception of some extra lb's and high cholesterol! I have never had Strep throat, mono, bronchitis, etc. Now I have some crazy stuff living in my throat. I started getting a clue when my right tonsil was practically jumping out of my throat. Now it is on to the Zpack and hopefully a full recovery.

This illness will not hamper my weekend plans in the least. Friday night, The Doc and I are going to my favorite restaurant in Boston, Excelsior for dinner with a pharmaceutical rep. She is a lot of fun so we should have a great time. Just waiting to hear back from a potential babysitter. On Saturday, Madigan has a birthday party at one of those pottery places from 3-5pm. I'll be sure to have another "treasure" created by her to keep forever. Saturday night, we have a Ladies Night Out to go to for all the Moms at Madigan's old preschool. We have a bit of a ride as our hostess actually lives about 40 minutes away. We are all piling into a Suburban so we only need one car. It is potluck so very easy on us all. I have been assigned Pellegrino, Smirnoff Ice, and my world famous Congo Bars. I am really looking forward to this. It is a great group of girls and there is sure to be many laughs!

Now I have to run, we have a lunch today sponsored by a company that does the genetic testing for breast cancer. I will post some information for all of you if it is good! Enjoy your Thursday!

Can't Believe It

Another young Hollywood Celeb is dead. I was shocked to read this last night when I was checking my emails. I don't know too much about Heath Ledger other than that he was Australian, and has a beautiful daughter with Michelle Williams. The autopsy is being conducted today to determine what happened. I really thought the next young celebrity death would be Britney or Lindsay. It is a shame, especially for his daughter who will group up without her dad.

Help if You Can

I got an email today from a friend of mine. It had a link to a video for Autism Speaks. For everyone who views the video, the band, Five for Fighting, will donate 49 cents to Autism Speaks. The video is beautifully done, so if you have three and a half minutes today, please click on this link:

Pathetic

Here is the story What a surprise and what a complete waste of my time reading about their emotional beachside ceremony in People Magazine. Why do these celebrities even bother? Is their money really burning a hot hole in their pockets that they have no other place to spend it? Her ring was beautiful. If she needs someone to take it off her hand, I am available and my ring size is a 6!

Deep Chill

We have had the craziest weather here in Boston the last week. One week ago today, it was 68 degrees. On Friday, we had three hours of torrential downpours and thunder and lightening. Then we got a snowstorm on Monday that dumped heavy wet snow everywhere and cancelled school for most children. What next? The snow is beautiful outside right now because it is stuck to all of the trees. We lost a tree on our front lawn. It was already kind of dead but now that it is weighed down by white stuff, it has crashed onto the lawn and the roots are completely out of the ground. That should be fun to clean up!

Nothing much else going on. Just work and hanging out at home. No exciting plans for the long weekend either except the Patriots Game. I always get so nervous before playoff games. It would be a shame for them to lose this one and not make it to the Superbowl after the season they have had. We have been very lucky sportsfans here in Boston recently but the Superbowl is the ultimate reward that we need to reap!

Growing Pains

For those of you who have children, you can feel my pain. I really hate that Madigan is getting older. Little girls are so darned cute! Not that bigger girls aren't, but bigger girls = attitide, fresh mouths, and hormones!!! She still is little I realize that. I just see the bigger girls on her bus and they seem so big! It is hard to let go of that idea that she is my baby. Not only that, but there are so many adorable things for little girls. I am going through my mail at the office and I got a catologue called Chasing Fireflies You need to check it out! It is expensive, but there are so many cute dresses, pj's, tutus and lots more!

I love these:

And just in case you need that special Preppy Birthday Cake, how about this?

NO Pain, NO Gain

I really hate that expression, you know that? I have been trying to walk everyday and I can say I am in pain. My body is screaming out at me: "What the Hell Are You Doing???? It is just so much easier to eat a Reese's. There were no excuses today as the temperatures in my neighborhood hit 68 degrees. I had to call my father who is in Aruba to tell him that he and my mom are wasting their hard earned money and could be sitting by my pool instead. It still has a few piles of filthy black snow on it, but consider it decor.

On these warmer days, my plan is to leave work early by 35 minutes or so and walk a route near Madigan's bus stop. I did this today and I think I may be making the Mass State Police's Most Wanted List. A house I walk by belongs to the Commonwealth's governor, Deval Patrick. I think I made the trooper nervous by walking by three times. Glad I did not have an asthma attack!

On the police front, I thought I'd share a story with you. On Saturday, Madigan had a birthday party for one of her school chums. The party was at her house in Boston. We were about three blocks away from the house when I saw blue lights in my rear view mirror. It was an unmarked Ford Taurus. The cop came up to my window and being the polite Gal I am, I said good afternoon. He told me I was one of the worst drivers he had ever seen. He wanted to know what my problem was. Now, you all should know I am a step 9 driver and have not been pulled over in several years. I asked him what I had done wrong. He did not answer me, he just said that he couldn't figure out who is a worse driver, me or my husband.......WHAT? It turned out to be one of the Docs' patients who is a Boston Cop. She was still sitting in the car and had her partner pull a fast one on me! I was ready to kill her! I could feel that my face was bright red. After a good laugh, I realized that I have to get rid of that vanity license plate! As for our patient, she owes a double copay next time she is in the office!

New To DVR

Yes, I did it, I DVR'd and watched The Celebrity Apprentice last night. I can blame it on the failure of the writers and the Powers That Be to come up with a contract and return us to more respectable programming but that wouldn't be very honest of me. I am a reality tv junkie and the Apprentice has long been in my DVR stable of programming. Gene Simmons was great, I hope he stays until the end. I do think they could have come up with some better Celebs though. I don't even know who half of them are and Marilu Henner? Anyone would have been better. Omorosa being on it actually sickens me. I hated her the first time and I hate her this time. I am glad Carol Alt stood up to her, but that Playboy Bunny was pathetic! Even Trump was disapointed in her. Now I just have to watch Project Runway, The Real Housewives of Orange County and a whole cycle of America's Next Top Model before sundown! Have a great weekend everyone!

Resolutions

2008 has arrived and with it sub zero temperatures here in Boston. It was a mere 9 degrees when I drove in to work today and with the windchill it must have been -55. I feel really bad for all of you who have to actually be outside during your commutes. I go from garage to garage so I am a bit spoiled!

As for those pesky New Year's Resolutions? I resolved to not have any cocktails unless it was a special occasion/vacation. That one hit the fan when the Doc arrived home on New Years Day night with a bottle of Russian Vodka that had arrived from Moscow a mere 12 hours before. One of his patients who delivered on New Year's Day had it hand delivered to him by her mom who just arrived here for the birth of the first grandchild. After a batch or two of Lemon Drop Martinis, I said "Das Vidanya" to that resolution!

I also want to try to have a bit more organization in 2008. Life moves at quite a fast pace and if I could be better organized I think I can be a better person. That includes being a better Blogger as well. With the Holidays behind us (and all those cookies and desserts on our behinds) I am ready to face that challenge. First thing on the organization to do list: Take the Christmas Tree down and put everything away in those festive green and red totes I purchased at Linens N Things. It will be much nicer next December to know where everything is and have a few less broken ornaments!

What about you all? Anything to stride towards in 2008?
