The Great Steak Debate

I don't know about you all, but I LOVE steak. I am weird in that I only eat steak and chicken and when at a restaurant, I will always choose steak. In Boston, we are inundated with steak houses. The Doc and I are fortunate enough to be able to try lots of these places and I have narrowed down my three favorite spots! Coming in third is Abe & Louie's. The location is prime. This eatery is smack in the middle of Boylston Street, one of Boston's main thorough fares for shopping, business and the finish line of the Boston Marathon. They have a great room upstairs with full bar and unbelievable leather club chairs.

Next, the second prize winner is Fleming's. This restaurant has never disappointed me. In fact, we had our office Christmas Party (held in February of this year) there and no one seemed to voice any complaints. This place is huge, it has a very spacious dining room and has private rooms in back if you have a special event or a large gang to party with.

And, the Grand Prize Winner of my Favorite Steak Place is: (drumroll please) Morton's of Chicago The meat here is absolutely succulent. It literally melts in your mouth. I love how they have the "menu cart" with the presentation of each cut of meat so you really see what you are getting. My favorite steak you ask? The steak au poivre prepared rare. I completely ignore that warning on the bottom of the menu about food temperature. In my opinion, the only way to eat is steak is to have it rare to medium rare.

How about you? Any favorites I need to try? Comment, comment, comment because I love suggestions for restaurants!

Steak rare is the only way to go - I totally agree. I love a filet mignon, but last summer was introduced to the New York strip and I have to say, it was quite lovely as well.

Oh great. Now I'm hungry.

Lisagh, I have to tell you that I too am a reformed filet mignon addict. The sirloin has so much more flavor due to the "marbleing" in the meat. The only filet I order now is in Aruba, and that one is stuffed with Gouda Cheese and onions!!!!

I was never a big red meat eater but when I was pregnant, all I wanted to eat was steak. Now I am hooked! I don't order it out often and never cook it at home but this discussion has inspired me!

Have you eaten at the Met Club? My husband really loves their steak.

The Met Club is amazing! They have a great salad there too. Arugula with a pistacio encrusted warm ball of goat cheese!

I will never fit into any summer clothes this year, and I can't figure out why??????

I have to agree there are a number of great steak places here in Chicago. Hubby love Omaha Steaks or KC Steaks if we are dining in on beef.

Hi!
I was reading your blog and had to join in on the steak debate.
I also LOOVVVEEE steak! It is my all time favorite food. Unfortunately for me my husband does not care for it. He really only likes hamburgers out of the red meat family. I try and try to educate him that a great steak is an orgasmic hamburger. Do not get me wrong I love hamburgers too.
But I would have to agree, Morton's of Chicago has been my favorite steak! And I have not been there for 12 years! I have been dreaming about it for that long. I have been to Flemmings and Abe and Louis in the over the last 9 months. I would have to rate them in the same order. Flemmings was fanstatic but I would love to go back but Morton's OOHHH!
Hopefully there is a family event, like a 40th wedding anniv, that I can get my husband there again.
